Well this is bad but good I guess.....
My dad is Not going to be weened off the respirator this weekend after all. He is using 30-40% of his lungs, the rest is under water...literally. We talked to the pulmanologist today and found out the Sunday he almost drowned in his secretions in his lungs. He could not expel them. So they are keeping him on it until Monday where they can suction more out and maybe he can breath better on his own.
The bad news is that if he takes another cigarette and this happens again he wont make it, the doctor said that it will be very unlikely that he would make it out of the hospital alive. Now to convince him his life is worth more to us alive than dead......
we are working and visiting him all week with the new boards and the BLT's that we have ,I just hope we can finish everything....
what a week... can it be over and daddy home yet?

well there's the latest.
Dad is still in the ICU and still on the ventilator. the Pulmonologist turned down the oxygen from 7 to 5 dad's normal range. He is still sedated having tried to ease up on the sedation he woke up and tried grabbing the tube again so back to the regular dosage of sedation. I have to say this, he is always complaining of being cold, let me tell you he is a firehouse now! He responds to you by squeezing your hand or moving his legs to us when we talk to him. I just want him out of there he looks so scary in there.
well that's all I have for you....wish us luck.....
oh work is suffering of course but we had everything mostly done but have to really crack down and start the new board we got the hardest board they have that we thought we'd never get the dreaded RCS's 155 parts that go one the board I have 55 ,Erica has 57, mom has 54 but we may change that....well see

jumping Jehoshaphat!
My Father is in the ICU! He got sick on Saturday and complained that he hadn't slept in 24 hours. He took some cough medicine and he didn't get better, yesterday afternoon I told him we should go the Emergency Room to see what is going on but he said he'd be OK. I went back up the hill and didn't give it another thought at 6:36 this morning my mom calls and says there's something wrong with your dad. I race up in the truck still in my pj's and take clothes with in case I have to take him to the ER. But she also called the paramedics and they were there about 10 seconds after I got there(they live on the same block that we do their called first responders)assessed him and told him that he really should go to the hospital. And he agreed! Scared the living crap out of me he is so stubborn that he would have never gone on his own. we borrowed the truck from the landlord again and get to the ER. there we get told that he almost died on us! his lungs were soo constricted that he was pushing zero air. So now my poor dad is on a ventilator and in the ICU. I am beside myself.
If anything changes I'll keep you informed
Please pray for us.....
